March 24, 2022: Projects and User Interaction Optimization

Projects

Using the Project tab, users may now organize multiple file types into custom-named groupings.

A project contains pointers (or references) to the files that are saved on the specific My Files pages (e.g., structures, scripts, etc.), so modifying a file affects any project(s) that point to it.

Files such as structures, scripts, and sequences can be used/shared in multiple projects. Transcripts are the exception and can only be associate with one project at any one time.

Creating a Project

On the Project tab, click the New Project button.

If you already have a project opened, you can click the ellipsis menu (...), and select New Project.

Enter a project name, and then click the Continue button.

Creating a project starts a new, active transcript that will remain associated with the project. Reopening the project at a later time will make the project transcript active.

Adding Files to a Project

Once you've created or opened a project, you may add files by uploading structures/sequences and running scripts from the respective My Files page. In the example below, I'll add three files to a project.

The structure, sequence, and script now appear on the Files tab, where you may manage project files.

Managing Project Files

On a project's Files tab, you may upload and download structures/sequences and run scripts in your current session or remove them from the project. You may also create a report from or download the transcript associated with the project.

Upload and Download Structures/Sequences and Run Scripts

Click the file's ellipsis (...) icon then select the appropriate option: Upload, Download, or Run.

Remove a File

Click the file's ellipsis (...) icon then select Remove from Project.

Note: This only removes the reference or "pointer" to the file, which still exists in My Files.

Create a Report or Download Transcript

On the Transcripts tab, click the ellipsis (...) icon then select the appropriate option: Create Report, Download PDF, or Download RTF.

Managing Projects

Open a Project

Click the project name under Recent Projects...

or click the Open Project button and then click the project name in the popup window.

If you are currently in an open project, click its ellipsis (...) menu, and then select Open Project.

Rename a Project

Click the pencil icon.

Edit the text and then click the check mark to accept or the X to cancel.

Delete a Project

With the project open, click its ellipsis (...) menu, and then select Delete Project.

You will then be asked to confirm the deletion.
